A question regarding the debates about the RSPCA pulling out of Crufts?
I'll say it now I have no time for the RSPCA. The BBC documentary was extremely biased, BUT we're all aware that there are a small minority of unscrupulous breeders out there, in all countries.
So who perpetuates this problem?
The bad breeders not giving a dam about what they are breeding as long as the money keeps rolling in?
OR
The people buying from them? Either because they have done no research into the breed or breeder, or because they just want a "Cheap" puppy?
Both. Supply and demand.
Bad breeders are either greedy and indifferent, or they are ignorant. The ignorant can be educated. But you can't do much about the greedy.
Buyers fall into a similar classification -- unwilling to invest in a 12-15 year commitment (cheap), or unaware that they have choices about who to buy from. In the first case, it is about money and seeing the animal as an object; in the second -- again -- they can be educated.
So, basically, two classifications: Money, and ignorance.
You try to educate the ignorant -- the ones who are more concerned about money are a lost cause.

What does the RSPCA have when seizing a dog, that an average person doesn't?
If a normal person saw an abused dog and wanted to take action into their own hands without phoning the RSPCA.. is this possible? or does the RSPCA have something us normal peopl don't?
Julie; The Arsepca have absolutely No 'powers' what so ever. No more than the Salvation Army has to carry rifles.
