what is the most common mistake people make when trying to train their dog?

I see so many people struggling with teaching their dogs simple things like not to bark and to sit. What is the secret these people need to know in order to train their (usually big) dog?

I have never heard of it.
I do know however, it is not the "equipment" that makes the dog. It is the training you give it and the relationship that you build.. There are no "secrets". Time spent, consistency, immediate corrections and positive reinforcement are the building blocks to a well trained dog.
