Dog Training License
do you need a license to be a pet sitter?
okay i need the money this summer and i'm doing doggie wash, pet sitting, dog training, stuff like that....Now i just had one question...Do you need a license to have like a doggie daycare but not really daycare like watch a few dogs for like a week or so then give the dogs right back when the owners want them??like pet sitting and have all kinds of fun with the dogs...
BTW i live in Rhode Island USA and around the Rumford East providence area
no, I am also doing pet sitting during the summer but I dont need a license. There is insurance available but it can be expensive.
If you are careful then you wont need to get any as you can put together a contract for customers to sign to say you are not liable for any problems.
Good Luck

How do I get my Service Dog a License in FL?
I have a Saint Bernard as a Service Dog for a personality disorder. The ADA Law allows my dog anywhere I go but buisnesses are allowed to ask what he is trained for and its REALLY embarassing for me to have to explain. It also makes it difficult for me to find a place to live that won't discrimiate againt me (though they won't admit to it) or allows big dogs, even though a Service Animal is not considered a pet. I want to get him a license so I can just show people his badge and not have to explain and so that my future landlord knows I'm not trying to BS them just to keep a big dog.
I don't want to pay some company online $50 or more for some laminated paper and a metal tag you can buy engraved anywhere. I was told these websites are just scams and that registering/licenseing shouldn't cost anything but I can't find a website or anyplace that does this without charging.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Individual counties in FL can issue special service dog ID tags. Apply with your local animal control office. You may be required to show proof of disability and/or proof of training in order to get the license. I'll see if I can find out and report back.
Even with the special license, businesses are still permitted to ask you what the dog is trained to do, and landlords will still discriminate.

Just checked and FL law only recognizes service animals for the blind, deaf, and physically disabled.

So it doesn't look like you'll qualify for any additional protections under state law. That means that yes, businesses can still ask what your dog is trained to do, and landlords can still require proof of disability and proof the dog is trained to perform some task(s) to mitigate your disability.

Unless issued by a recognized program that trains service dogs and has personally tested you and your dog as a team, or issued by a state or local government, then you are correct, it is meaningless and a waste of money. So your alternative would be to find a program to test and certify you in person in FL. Here are some programs, but I'll warn you that very very few will certify dogs they did not themselves train: http://www.assistancedogsinternational.org/membersstatecountry.php#FL
