Dog Training Collars Uk
How on earth do we manage to have well trained dogs in the UK?
We don't use pinning, alpha rolls, electric collars or prong collars, yet we still manage to train our dogs!
How on earth do we manage it? lol
Determination, patience and positive reinforcement.
Also we some how manage to house train them without using crates - that's the one I am amazed by.

Do you agree that dogs have a natural willingness to obey?
Tori, one of my Dobermanns is a really stubborn little madam when she spies a fox, rabbit, squirrel or duck. On one occasion she spotted a fox before I did and was gone like a shot, absolutely deaf to recall and straight across a road in front of a car.
Tori's chase drive was much stronger than her willingness to obey.
It is argued in the article that no dog, be it service, protection, military, police or pet, needs to be trained by fear and has a natural willingness to obey and that electric collars should be banned.
Do you agree?

Another useless article, written by people that have no idea what a dog is and how to train one.
Please allow me to delve a little bit into dog psychology and behavior and the REAL reason why dogs do what they do.
All desire in a dog, all actions in a dog come from one drive...pack drive, period, end of story.
When that drive is in proper order, everything else will follow. What behaviors manifest from that drive are also important, but, there is no natural willingness to obey anything or anyone in a dog.
A dog obeys his alpha in his pack, willingly, because he knows that the opposite will have VERY serious and violent consequences on his physical well being. Alpha dogs are not interested in love or affection, they are VERY interested, however, in RESPECT.
The dog will also obey because doing so will ensure his survival and his place in the pack.
Now, let's discuss why dogs do what they do and how we come in to the equation...the bunny huggers will have to forgive me here.
Dogs do everything they do to satisfy a drive, period, end of conversation. All good trainers know this and take advantage of it, hence the reason we look for dogs that already have what we want GENETICALLY.
You work with what the dog bring you, you cannot and will not change something that has been built in the dog by nature, ever....
That article states that E collars should be banned, but, the author has never seen what a good trainer has been able to accomplish with an E collar and a dog.
The author has failed to mention that E collars are used in rescue centers and humane societies to rehabilitate dogs for adoption that would have to be otherwise put down.
I have trained hundreds upon hundreds of dogs using nothing but an E collar, why haven't I had any problems, ever?
No dog is born with a strong desire to please anyone except his drives, the alpha male in a pack, being a dog and knowing about these drives instinctively, will only utitilize these drives when ordering the pack.
All REAL training involves some type of fear, just like living in this world does as well. Don't do your work and tell me if you fear losing your job, run the red light with a cop behind you and tell me you don't fear the ticket, etc...
The dog MUST fear what will happen if he fails to obey an order, otherwise there will never be any way of proofing that dog and the goal of all training is to have a reliable dog off leash for most people here, and for real world applications to have a dog that will work happily in the middle of Baghdad Iraq while the world is falling apart all around us.
Does this dog look afraid or unhappy, can your dog do that? Mine can!!!
