Canine Good Citizen Test- Reaction to Another Dog Training?
"Test 8: Reaction to another dog-
This test demonstrates that the dog can behave politely around other dogs. Two handlers and their dogs approach each other from a distance of about 20 feet, stop, shake hands and exchange pleasantries, and continue on for about 10 feet. The dogs should show no more than casual interest in each other. Neither dog should go to the other dog or its handler."- American Kennel Club
How can I train my Sixteen month old Wheaten Terrier puppy to practically ignore other dogs?! He loves other dogs and goes berserk trying to get to them so he can play. He become extremely alert and his tail goes over his back. How can I teach him to become less excited? (He's not aggressive at all, just excited.)
Teach him sit/stay. Your dog should sit or stand quietly and patiently when you exchange pleasantries with someone else. I've seen a lot of people use the "leave it" command then a sit/stay when they get excited during this portion of the test.
Practice, practice, practice.

I need advice on dog training?
I have a 6 month old male shih tzu named Conner. Recently we did some obedience training with our dog with our local Kennel Club (the last training class was last night).
Conner did very well with obedience training but now Conner won't come when he's called. I say his name and tell him to come and all he does is sit there and looks at me like I'm from a different planet. How can I train my dog to come to me when he's called? Is this just a phase that my dog is going through? Will he grow out of it?
Were getting Conner nutered on friday and my husband thinks that Conner will listen better after he's been nutered. Is my husband right?
We wanted to get him nutered sooner but the vet wanted us to wait until more of his teeth came in.
Well, nuetering him will help. You should have done it alot sooner. Hopefully he hasn't started spraying everywhere!
What you can do is give him a treat when you call him. He'll learn that coming when called will result in a treat.
Do it regularly for the first day. So he gets a treat every time. Then the next day, every other time, and so on and so forth.
That should really help!
