Stop Dog on Dog Interaction from Becoming Terrible

Dogs that lack interaction skills get themselves into trouble at times. Some dogs for certain reasons just lack socialization skills. They might just possibly be that young to where it has yet to happen where they have interacted yet, or they might just have terrible interaction abilities.

This idea or spectrum can easily be compared to us as humans. As young humans we build our skills to communicate with others. The only negative is that in the canine race, sometimes pushed limits of dogs end in very bad results.

The only method of <b>training a dog</b> to be better at socialization is to bring them in the heart of it. Bring your dog to the park or take it slower if need be with just a single dog one on one for starters. Sometimes when bringing your dog into a group of dogs will really stop them from being over reactive with the large number of dogs around and the fact of being so highly out numbered.

The worst thing a dog owner can do is to keep that young puppy away from others dogs. This creates a death trap like aggression for the puppy once it gets older in the idea of it thinking it is so aggressive when it may nearly not be.

Take these steps in training as you bring your dog to the next step out to dog socialization.

While you are out and about with the other dog/s, have your dog sit and stay there with a hold while you give him treats and show him it is fine for other dogs to come about.

Try and keep the dog's attention on you even though there may be dogs running around him. Give him treats for keeping a sit, but not too many to where it is too many treats. Just enough.

As other dogs walk past tell him "look" at the other dogs and once he looks, get his attention back to you and give him a treat as he looks at you. This lets him know that you are more important with the treats.

The idea here is to get the dog to look at you when another dog approaches and having the dog search for that treat you usually give him and the dog caring less about the other dog. This method works wonders. Keep up with this training and it will come out very effective.

How do I get my dog to go potty in the dog run?

We recently built a nice fenced area in the back yard for our dog to go potty in. We have a 3 year old boy that likes to play in the back yard but the dog leaves big land mines everywhere and is killing the grass with his pee spots. So we built the dog run for the dog to do his business but he absolutely will not go potty when he's in there. What do we need to do to get him to go?!?!?!

it will take persistance. how old is the dog? if it's still young (even if it's not) after it has eaten, give it a few minuites, then take it to the area and wait with it until it does it's business. when it does, reward it with a treat or a game or even just a rub on the head and a 'good dog' praise. if it does go in the yard pick up the poop and take it to the area (the poop, not the dog). make sure that the area for it to do it's business is a good distance away from the kennel.
