Dog and cat - 'temporary problem'?

Dog and Cat usually get along, dog is a Border Collie, 8 years old, Cat is black (don't know any cat breeds ), the pair have always got on well, when the cat was a kitten he would often rest his head on my dog's belly and they would sleep together. The dog was groomed about 5 days ago, and had to have a lot of hair shaved off (Border collie's have thick double coats), now he looks like a completely different dog. The cat was confused at first, but then started getting aggressive, we assumed that when he smelt the dog, he would remember who it was, but still, a week and a half after the grooming, the cat hisses and attacks my dog :C
I want to be able to have both the cat and the dog inside again, instead of having to put one out when the other comes in.

Its more than just the cut. Groomers always bathe the dog and put some fragrance into their coats at the last minute. SO the cat can smell a different dog.

I can even smell my own dog after the groomers are done with him He is a different dog.

It takes days before all this smells go away. Bathe the dog, then he will reveet to normal.
