Dog And Cat Kennel
Kennel license in Arizona?
I have recently been looking into opening a dog and cat kennel/hotel but don't really know where to start. I do know that you need a kennel license for this kind of thing but how do i go about getting it? how much will it cost? and if you know any info about starting a kennel sharing the info would be appreciated. Also what are the requirements for opening your own kennel? Thank You
You will need to see if you have enough property to build a large enough kennel on to house a number of dogs Most areas of the country have zoning laws that forbid the building of additional buildings.
If approved then you need building permit, and a contractor draw up blue prints and build said kennel.
Inspections need to be done and paid for, electricians are needed to run wiring and plumbers for water lines.
A furnace and hot water tank is also necessary, and being as you live in Arizona you will need A/C for summer heat.
Food, water bowls and bedding (loads of bedding ) is necessary, and if possible a washer and dryer to do bedding.A grooming area is necessary if you are running a Hostel for animals because people want their dogs to be clean and fresh when they pick them up.
A kennel license is based on the number of dogs you will be servicing on a regular basis. In my area(Ohio) it is $60.00 a year for them
But being as you are going to running a hostel for animals there may be different fees concerning it. Please do plenty of research on this before jumping into it or this project may cause a lot of grief in the end

Starting a Dog Kennel?
Hi There!
I would like to start a dog boarding operation
somewhere in California. This would be located
in the country.
Are there counties which have no zoning and no
licensing? In other words, are there counties
where you can operate completely unregulated?
I know many people board dogs and cats without
the proper licenses. But that is not my goal.
Rather, I would like to board animals in a county
where there is no regulation at all.
Many thanks!
Ron
why would you prefer no regulation? Regulation protects the animals, the customers, the staff and in turn the owners.
