Can anyone offer any tips on grooming a Persian?

I have a beautiful female persian chinchilla cat, named Bella. She's only 8 months old and when we took her (at the age of 4 months) I knew I would have to brush her every day. The problem is that she won't let me. I've tried a comb and a brush and nothing works. I've started with gentle brushing every day but she would put up with that only if she's in the mood. Now her hair is really starting to grow and I've already had to cut off matted hair between her front paws - where she wouldn't even let me touch with the comb. Now I brush her once a day, and I always try to be gentle so that it wouldn't hurt her but I found new matted places again. I would appreciate any tips that would help. I don't want to take her to the vet for a hair cut, she's really gorgeous.
Thanks

COMB - not a brush. Always use a fine and medium toothed comb on a Persian or you will continue to have mats.

Take charge of things - you've let her get away from being combed. Even if you need another person to hold her still, you must train her to sit and stand on a small table for grooming. YOU decide when to stop - not the cat. This is why you teach Persian kittens from 3-4 months old to accept combing.

Start with the head and neck and have some treats she really likes. Be gentle but firm in making her sit or stand. Comb the head and neck and ruff and gradually work down on the body, legs and tail. The belly is the hardest cause most cats don't like it done and will fight more.

For that part, she has to be taught to stand on her back legs while you hold the front legs firmly and get all the tangles out.

The last video I found is pretty informative and you should be sure to watch that one

Grooming a cat around rear end?

Any tips on handling and grooming a cat/kitten around the bottom would be helpful. I am fostering my first batch of persian mixes, and when they get ickys stuck back there, i have to clean them, and boy do they not like it.
I try to keep them clipped back there so no problem, but they also hate being clipped.
They are accostumed to being held, and being brushed daily.
any links for longhair cats and grooming would be appreciated.

I have two long haired cats and I also have to groom them there. I wait until they are asleep and clip it with scissors. I am very careful and still, have never cut one of them (knock on wood). If they wake, I wait to finish until they are sleeping again. I know it's a pain but it's better then getting scratched or cleaning poo off that long hair. Letting it grow out and get gross... will not teach them to groom better. Ignore that moron.
