To Prevent Cat Mats Quickly And Easily Cat Grooming Is Important

Any cat owner knows that cat grooming is essential to keeping your cat healthy and clean. Cats do a good job themselves of grooming but they need your help with it also.

Cats can very easily get cat mats in their fur and this is especially true if they have long hair. Matted fur is always a problem with cats but it can be easily prevented for your pet with regular grooming.

For cats that have shorter hair you will only need to brush them once a week. For long hair cats it is a good idea to brush them once a day to prevent cat mats.

One important thing to remember is that cats don't like to be brushed. It will take some time for them to get use to you helping them with this. Make it special time with you is the best way to help them enjoy it more.

Put them on your lap and give them some loving before you start brushing. The start slowly until they get used to the feel of being brushed. After they are done you can offer them a small treat if you want to.

The point is that you will need to work with your cat in order to get them to the point where they will sit still for grooming. By making it special time with you then the cat will associate that with being brushed every time and this will make it much easier to do.

Another important thing to do if you have a cat that goes outdoors is to be sure you take time to check their fur. Check their fur daily or at least every other day.

You want to look for cat mats and sap and any dirt that may have gotten into their fur because this can cause fur matting. Immediately brush them if you notice any of these things.

If you groom your cat on a regular basis and daily if needed then you can very easily prevent cat mats. If you don't take the time to do this for your pet then they could end up with health problems from not being groomed.

Don't let this happen to your pet. Instead take the time daily or once a week to be sure they are free of cat mats and other problems. Your cat will love you for it and you will be happy knowing your cat is happy.

Cat Grooming Problems

Why is my cat over-grooming/shaving himself?

He's been doing this for quite a while... and I'm not sure what his problem is. It isn't fleas b/c he's been checked and I think it might be an anxiety disorder. He constantly over-grooms and bites the hair off his hind legs, his abdomin, and some parts on his front legs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

my cat has done thids his whole life the vet said its just stress and anxiety ( why a cat would have stress in its life beats me) you can either live with it or put the cat on tranqulizers. i didn't want to medicate my kitty so i just let him have bald legs.
