Why do cats cost less to take care of than dogs?

A bag of cat food cost around $3-$5, tuna fish/chicken is anywhere from 49c-99c a can, their toys are cheaper as well. But dog food is anywhere from $15-$19, their toys are mos expensive, even Grooming them is more expensive. Why is this? Cats cause more damage anyways.

I've found the dog food costs around the same as cat food, per pound. Obviously a 20 pound bag of dog food costs more than a 5 pound bag of cat food. But cats do eat less. Other than that, veterinary expenses can cost just as much. My dog doesn't get groomed and neither does my cat so they're even there also.

I will agree that toys are cheaper. And so are beds if you have a big dog. However in my world the dog does more damage.
