Hello, And yes cats are friendly like dogs, I have three one is like my shadow he follows me every where I go and when he cant find me he starts to meow very loud until I speak out to him to let him know where I am, if Im in the bathroom he waits outside the door when I go to bed so does he. I have a female that also is very loving she is always willing to fill your empty lap and really don't much like when you have to get up and she loves to be held my oldest female has her very picky ways and wants attention on her terms only. Not all cats are the same If your looking for a known breed that is sure to very friendly you may want to ask a Vet, or a good pet shop but be careful of that they may tell you they have the perfect cat for you in hope to make a sale, I worked for one I know some of the tricks! I hope this helps a little, I am one of those that could not imagine my life without my "cat kids" you may choose to own a cat....but in their eyes they own you.
also you can find some very friendly cats at your local shelter I have found some of the most loving cats that way, all of my cats were homeless until I took them in and made them family.
