Cat Care After Surgery
my cat had surgery for urine blockage?
He will have been dr for five days by time i pick him up monday. he got his collar of at vet 2 days after surger, liked his wound and irritated it. vet put in catheder for 2 days.. i am very worried about him. do you think this set him back, or made a more serious problem for him? he comes home on monday, any suggestions on post care.. how to keep him from removing collar?
Your vet will be a valuable source of information, for these questions. Not only is the vet the real expert, but s/he also knows your cat, at least better than anyone here could. Another good thing about asking the vet, will be that the vet can demonstrate to you how to use the e-collar, and how to do any other care that your cat will need.
You have good questions, it shows you are really thinking about this. If you are afraid that you might forget some of these questions when you talk to the vet, write them down. I do that. Sometimes I take in a really long list of questions, and feel shy about asking all of them. But we are paying for the expert knowledge of the vet, so we need to get our money's worth out of them.
You can also ask the vet. tech.s as they will know how to do all the things you would have to do for your cat - and sometimes they are easier to talk to (kind of like how nurses are sometimes easier to talk to than doctors are).
If you are not sure you can do something exactly right, ask if there are other ways to do it.
Hang in there, you are going to do just fine with your little guy. Here is wishing him a speedy recovery.
Cat Care After Surgery
I need some advice on spaying my cat?
Hey all,
My cat Bam bam is getting spayed in the morning. She has been fasting since 8 am. poor thing
Anyways, I have never owned a female cat before, so I don't know how to care for her after the surgery? what should I do and do I leave her be? pet her? she is normally VERY VERY feisty, as in, if she doesn't like you she WILL hiss and WILL claw at you...she is aggressive..really aggressive..so please any tips will help me
thanks
thank you to everybody for the help
I have never had a female cat before...so I am glad we can all work together to achieve a world where no animal is left out in the cold, hungry and alone
. I hope everybody gets their cats fixed male or female so we can control the population
ps..SERIOUSLY hope that she is BETTER and NICE after this surgery..lol.
She will be sleepy and groggy for a day or two. She will likely want to sleep and may not be interested in food and water. Give her a comfy place to sleep and have her food, water and litter box available and let her be. She will be pretty much back to normal in a day or two. Sutures come out around 10-14 days. If there are any complications other than just lethargy after a couple of days, call the vet and check in.
