Boarding Kennel Name???? I am opening a new Boarding Kennel in the New England Area and I am looking for?

a fun, catchy name. To be more specific, we will be boarding and grooming both dogs and cats, we will be located in a somewhat rural location. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have never been good with names. Thank you!!

Help me diagnose my cat's illness?

11 year old male domestic short hair. Recently began medicating with 5mg of Fortekor once daily for treatment of a mild heart murmur. About five weeks ago we switched his food by gradually changing from Royal Canin SolCal urinary SO formula to MediCal mature formula for the reduced salt and fat. He has a history of crystals and the food was prescribed by our vet.

He was boarded at a cats only kennel for two weeks in February. We have used this kennel before and they come highly recommended by our vet. All prescriptions were adhered to while he was boarded there and I have no reason to believe anything occurred while there. Except for one thing. I discovered shortly after returning home that he had a small scab on the back of each ear and that his hair had thinned on the back of his ears as well.

Over the last couple of days I have witnessed a sudden drop in appetite to the point that he hasn't eaten at all today. I have also noticed loose stool in the litter box.

Any ideas?

The scab and missing hair may be the result of mites (can be any kind of mite, not just ear mites--they focus on the head area first). My guess is you are dealing with two different problems (you just happened to notice both at the same time).

While cats do get tummy upset, they can't go more than a couple of days without eating or organs start shutting down. Since you'll need meds from the vet for mites anyway, I'd suggest making an appointment for Monday.
