Bird Dog Training Video
Training difficult animals like cats or birds...?
I am a dog trainer who trains dogs using positive reinforcement and of course making sure that I develop a relationship of trust with each dog I train. Can I use the same techniques for training things like pet birds or chickens or ducks? Can I simply use food to lure them and teach them things? Is it even possible to teach a chicken or duck to "sit" or "stay"? I have no idea. I also don't know too many cats that actually listen to their owners.
*Videos on such things will be helpful too.
YES you can. I have never trained a bird (although if the bird I rescued hatches I will)
Marker, + reinforcement works great on cats.
That's my two dsh 4yr old males doing a couple tricks. BeBe, the slightly bigger one, knows a ton. I have to get some of his tricks on tape. He's leash trained, sit, stay, no, touch it, spin, we're working on scratch my back and getting him to jump on my shoulder on command (and not whenever he decides).
poor video quality but it's BeBe doing sit and touch it

Can cows be trained to do tricks?
I recently saw a video clip from Good Morning America about a man training his children's pet goldfish to do tricks ( http://www.fish-school.com ) It was really amazing! I have never seen fish do something like that, nor did I know they were capable of it.
My boyfriend and I got into a 'discussion' about whether or not cows were capable of learning tricks. Birds, horses, dogs, cats, pigs, bears, marine mammals, etc., are all capable of learning tricks, but what about cows? I have tried searching online for this, but no luck so far. Has anyone ever heard of cows learning to do tricks? Has anyone ever tried?
Yes you can train them to do things... they obviously respond to feeding time cues such as a feed truck driving toward them which is a very mild "trick"... but I wouldnt count on teaching a cow to do a backflip or do addition.
