Dog Training Collars?

Does anyone have any positive experiences with dog training collars? I don't mean the shock collars (I would never do that to my doggie), I mean either the one the the Dog Whisperer uses.

Don't spend the money on cesar milans crap.

Get any training collar from the local petstore. The trainers there will show you how to use it.

Where can I find info on advanced tricks and training for my dog?

My dog is 7 years old, mix breed, neutered, male and knows around 50 individual commands and countless command combinations. He's agressive around strangers(it's very controlable, but no one outside of the family and our vet can touch him). He's very proficient in everything he already knows, we communicate very well and we've already mastered everything including come and down under distraction but it's gotten to the point that no matter how I vary the order he anticipates everything and just seems bored. I am too. Do you know of any advanced/mentally challenging things we can work on that don't involve going to classes or events? Most of the dog books I've read just repeat the same old things.

Agility is out as well, he's got a bit of arthritis in his hips and the vet recommends against it.

My dog is very food/praise motivated, but will also go for toys. He's a collie/chow mix.

Wow this is a hard question. What about hide and seek? Or teach him to bring you the remote or phone you can tye a rope to it and he can bring it to you when it rings. You could teach him to hit the bell on the door. like put a bell hang it from the door knob when he wants out he hits the bell. I'm all out of stuff!
